Lamb of God and The Greatness of Christ's sacrifice (The Gospel of John)

For someone familiar with the Old Testament, the title "Lamb of God" brings to mind several parallels. Read the following passages and describe how the role of the "Lamb" in each is similar to what Christ did.

The Sacrifice of Isaac

Genesis 22:1-19

After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “TAKE YOUR SON, YOUR ONLY SON ISAAC, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and OFFER HIM there AS A BURNT OFFERING on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac.
And he cut the wood for THE BURNT OFFERING and AROSE and went to the place of which God had told him.
ON THE THIRD DAY Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you (WE WILL COME BACK to you)."

By faith WE understand:

For whoever would draw near to God MUST BELIEVE that He exists and that He REWARDS those who seek Him.

And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!”
And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
Abraham said, “GOD WILL PROVIDE FOR HIMSELF THE LAMB FOR A BURNT OFFERING, my son.” So they went both of them together.

GOD WILL PROVIDE FOR HIMSELF THE LAMB FOR A BURNT OFFERING-
Cf. John 1:29

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not WITHHELD
(chasak: to WITHHOLD, refrain)
your son, YOUR ONLY
(yachid: ONLY, only one, solitary)
SON, FROM ME.”

Cf. John 3:16; Romans 8:32

Galatians 4:22
For it is written that Abraham had TWO SONS, one by a SLAVE woman (Hagar) and one by a FREE woman (Sarah).

Slave-
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, EVERY ONE THAT COMMITTETH SIN IS THE BONDSERVANT OF SIN. John 8:34

When YOU WERE SLAVES TO SIN, you were free from doing what God approves of.
Romans 6:20

The curse: The SLAVE woman,
EVE (The mother of all living)

This is a constant reminder that A WOMAN GAVE BIRTH TO SIN in the human race and genetically passes it on to ALL her children (children of wrath).

Behold, I was BROUGHT FORTH IN INIQUITY, and IN SIN DID MY MOTHER (Eve, The mother of all living) CONCEIVE ME.
Ps. 51:5

...Between your seed (The Serpent), and her seed (Eve);
Her seed (Christ), shall bruise The Serpents' head (destroy him), and The Serpent, shall bruise Christ's heel (cause Him to suffer). Genesis 3:15

The blessing: The FREE woman,
MARY (Christ born of The virgin Mary)

"Rejoice highly favored one" "BLESSED are you among women" Luke 1:28
highly favored Lit.
"Full of Grace" translated "accepted"

Luke 1:48 "For Behold, henceforth all generations will call me BLESSED"

Ishmaels' birth was motivated by Abraham and Sarah's LACK OF FAITH in God's promise (without faith it is impossible to please him), and FULFILLED BY SINFUL HUMAN MEANS.
THROUGH PROMISE: God miraculously ENABLED Abraham and Sarah to have Isaac when Sarah was well past childbearing age and had been barren  her entire life.
(Mary was a virgin).

And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place, “THE LORD WILL PROVIDE” ("GOD WILL PROVIDE for Himself The Lamb for a burnt offering, my son.”);  as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said, “By myself I HAVE SWORN, declares The Lord, because you have done this and HAVE NOT WITHHELD YOUR SON, YOUR ONLY SON, I will surely BLESS you, and I WILL surely multiply your offspring (Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same PROMISE), as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore (Therefore from one man, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore).
And your offspring (Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same PROMISE), shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring (Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same PROMISE), shall all the nations of the earth be BLESSED, because you have obeyed my voice.”

(Paraphrased) cf. Hebrews 11:9, 12

Greatness of Christ's sacrifice:

Genesis 26:1-3
"Children of PROMISE" (Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same PROMISE).

Galatians 4:28
"we are NOT children of the bond woman" (Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same PROMISE).

New Priestly Service:

Hebrews 8:3; 9:12; 10:10

For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and SACRIFICES;
THUS IT IS NECESSARY FOR THIS PRIEST ALSO TO HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER (Himself).
He entered ONCE FOR ALL into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of HIS own BLOOD, thus securing an eternal redemption (His Blood).
And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of THE BODY of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL (His Body).
He (Christ), would have had to suffer, to offer himself REPEATEDLY, But as it is, He has appeared ONCE (and for ALL), NOT every year (as the high priest enters the most holy place with the blood of another, with blood not his own), TO PUT AWAY SIN BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF.
Christ was offered Once, as it is appointed for men to die once, apart from sin, for salvation.
Hebrews 9:25-28 (Paraphrased)

So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba. And Abraham lived at Beersheba.

Exodus 12:1-13
vs. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish.
vs. 6 at twilight (Later Moses would prescribe the time for the sacrifice as "at Twilight, at the going down of the sun" Deut. 16:6)

According to Josephus, it was customary in his day to slaughter The lamb at about 3 PM.
This was the time of day that Christ, the Christian's Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7) died (Luke 23:44-46).

Leviticus 4:32-35  These are sacrifices for the sin of an individual. Either a goat (27-31) or a Lamb (32-35) could be sacrificed in much the same manner as the offering for a ruler.

Isaiah 53:7-10
7-8 cf. Acts 8:32, 33

vs. 7
Lamb to the slaughter:
The servant was to assume the role of a sacrificial lamb Exodus 12:3, 6

vs. 8
Cut off... for the transgressions of My people:
Daniel 9:26

vs. 10
It pleased the Lord:
Though the servant did not deserve to die, It was the Lord's will for Him to do so.
Matthew 26:39; Luke 22:42; John 12:27; Acts 2:23

And offering for sin:
Fulfilled by the servant as the lamb of God vs. 7; John 1:29

Numbers 19:2-3
“This is the statute of the law that the Lord has commanded: Tell the people of Israel to bring you a red heifer without defect, in which there is no blemish, and on which a yoke has never come. And you shall give it to Eleazar the priest, and it shall be taken outside the camp and slaughtered before him.
